Just remember no caps when you spell the man name…

maticulous began his hip hop journey as an on-air DJ at WIUP’s “The Underground” in Pennsylvania, where he attended college. Soon after moving to Brooklyn in 2004, maticulous earned a coveted internship at that influential Manhattan staple of underground hip hop, Fat Beats NY. He quickly worked his way up the ranks, first as a buyer managed by DJ Eclipse (Non-Phixion/La Coka Nostra), & later as an A&R/sales rep for Fat Beats Records/Distribution. This immersion in the hip hop scene cemented a true passion for maticulous: to create & release his own music.

In 2011, maticulous released his debut project, The maticulous EP, which was manufactured & distributed by Fat Beats. The EP’s lead single, “Body The Beat,” features Ruste Juxx, R.A. The Rugged Man, and Rock of Heltah Skeltah. The track received critical acclaim, and the video has racked up more than 130,000 views on YouTube. From 2011 through 2014, maticulous released a number of instrumental projects & produced the work of various artists, including MF DOOM, J-Zone, Shabaam Saadeeq, and yU.

maticulous unveiled his first full-length project, The maticulous LP, in 2015 via Soulspazm. This album highlighted his versatility & features the work of true heavyweights in the hip hop pantheon: Masta Ace, Fame M.O.P, Rah Digga, Guilty Simpson, Blu, and Your Old Droog.

In 2017, a chance meeting with Justo The MC at Sirius XM led to a collaboration, & the duo quickly began crafting what became Mind Of A Man (Tuff Kong Records/Myers Street Music). The album appeared on a number of year-end lists & was named one of Bandcamp’s top albums in January 2019. During a subsequent appearance on the “Live From HeadqCourterz” radio show, the legendary Gang Starr producer DJ Premier told maticulous he was a fan of his beats.

maticulous & Justo The MC released the summer EP Bonus Room in June 2019. They returned in May 2020 with their follow-up LP, County Of Kings.

maticulous’ newest project, an album called no caps, is out now.
